Guter Zustand

Als Ormoulu bezeichnet man eine Form von Vergoldung. Dabei wird Goldpulver mit Quecksilber vermischt, auf Bronze aufgetragen und erhitzt, wobei das Quecksilber verdampft und ein dünner Goldüberzug haften bleibt. Die Technik kam in Frankreich unter Louis XIV. (1643-1715) in Form von Ormolubeschlägen auf, welche dann Möbel und andere Gegenstände dekorierten.

Zustand:
Die beiden Leuchter befinden sich in einem guten Zustand mit minimalen Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Teilweise sind kleinste Kratzspuren auszumachen sowie geringer Oberflächenabrieb. Die Höhen betragen 34,5 cm. (nlu)

Good condition

The term ormolu refers to a certain gilding process. In this process, gold powder is mixed with mercury, applied on bronze and heated, whereby the mercury evaporates and a thin gold coat remains. Ormolu became fashionable under Louis XVI (1643-1715) in the shape of ormolu fittings, which were then attached to furniture and other objects.

Condition:
Both candlesticks are in a good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. In places tiny scratches can be seen as well as minor surface abrasion. The heights measure 34.5 cm. (nlu)
