Two English delftware plates, dated 1774 and 1784 The first inscribed 'Edmd & Mary George 1774', within stylised folate borders, 23.2cm diam, the other with a young woman feeding chickens in front of a house, the cavetto with a Chinese border, the rim with four flower sprays, inscribed 'Mrs C 1784' on the back, 23.3cm diam (2) Footnotes: Provenance With Martyn Edgell, 1996 (1774 plate) With Jonathan Horne, 1997 (1784 plate) Graham Slater Collection The plate commemorating the marriage of Edmund and Mary George in 1774 is one of a set, three of which are recorded by Lipski and Archer in Dated English Delftware (1984), p.150, figs.673A-B. Another was sold by Bonhams on 17 May 2017, lot 100. The second-mentioned plate is illustrated by Lipski and Archer (1984), p.154, fig.695. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
